JOB DESCRIPTION

The ideal candidate will assist the accounting team with the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems to insure integrity of finances. In addition, will review all general ledger accounts to make sure that all entries are recorded accurately and according to GAAP. Assist in performing internal audits by obtaining all necessary material needed to ensure accuracy. Assists the Grants and Contracts Manager with financial data, housing data, and financial statements.

SALARY

Competitive Compensation; Non-Exempt; Rate Range $27.89 - $36.32/hour based on experience

 REPORTS TO

Accounting Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Bachelors in Accounting or Finance or a related field required, with experience in GL analysis, account reconciliation and audit schedule preparation. Working knowledge of Excel is required and familiarity with other office programs is preferred.   

Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorization to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Technician III will assist with the following duties:

1.     Assists in the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems to ensure integrity of finances based on sound accounting procedures and controls.

2.     Reviews all general ledger accounts monthly to make sure that all entries are recorded accurately and according to GAAP.

3.     Prepares all financial data requested by the Grants and Contract Department.

4.     Assists the Accounting Manager in the preparation of agency budgets.

5.     Assists the Accounting Manager in the preparation of agency financial statements.

6.     Prepares or obtains assigned schedules for the annual audit.

7.     Performs internal audits, including but not limited to housing files, program fees, etc.

8.     Prepares assigned bank reconciliations.

9.     Provide Interpretation and recommend implementation strategy for all pertinent FASB proposals.

10.  Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

Ability to: see well enough to read data on a computer screen and text in written documents; perform extensive computer keyboard operations; operate a motor vehicle; climb stairs; possess good communication skills; meet the requirements of the classification and have mobility, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed. Capable of the following extended activities: standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Capable of the following intermittent activities: lifting 25 pounds or more and bending in the performance of infrequently performed office duties.
