Program Director- Short Term Crisis (Eligible for Sign-on Bonus)
The ideal candidate will provide supervision, coordination and management of the Short Term Crisis Programs, a fifteen and thirteen bed residential treatment program for adults with psychiatric disabilities. The Program Director is also responsible for supervising the on-site Day Programs. The Short-Term Crisis Programs provides a community-based alternative to inpatient psychiatric care for people in crisis. In addition, provide on call support to program staff when needed and must live within a 30-minute radius of the Programs (Monterey and/or Salinas).

Division Director of Program Services.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; two years’ experience in mental health treatment in which one year is in the capacity of supervisory experience; knowledge of principles of working with adults with severe mental illness; live within 30 minutes of program site. Excellent English oral and written communication skills, strong clinical skills, and ability to manage a culturally diverse team. Demonstrated leadership and program development skills. Ability to manage program budget. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field with one of the following licenses: LMFT, LSCW, LPCC or license eligible or Clinical Psychologist or RN; four years’ experience in mental health treatment in which two years is in the capacity of supervisory experience in substance use treatment. Bilingual in Spanish. Knowledge of community resources and public speaking experience desirable.
Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; own vehicle in good operating condition or ability to provide own transportation necessary to travel to meetings and appointments in the community; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorization to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Division Director of Program Services, the Program Director will assist with the following duties:
- Provide on call services and support to program staff when needed and live within a 30-minute radius of the Program (Monterey and/or Salinas).
- Recruitment, hiring, supervision, scheduling, training and development of program staff. Coordinate work of staff, conduct staff meetings.
- Program planning and evaluation, including development of program procedures, materials, forms. Implementation of a work plan to insure achievement of program objectives, including establishing, monitoring, and revision, as needed of program processes and procedures.
- Liaison and coordination with County Behavioral Health system and other private and public social services, mental health agencies and other Interim programs.
- Maintenance of accurate records, using both computerized and manual methods. Examples include: program statistics, client records, (including Medi-Cal documentation), medical records, financial records, outcome measures.
- Provision of direct services for clients including client intake, treatment planning and crisis management.
- Coordination of all new client intakes, assuring that all required documentation is received prior to intake.
- Close coordination with Community Care Licensing and the Department of Health Care Services to ensure compliance with all licensing regulations.
- Management and monitoring of program budget.
- Supervision of maintenance of facility.
- Participation in agency Steering Committee
- Implementation of effective public relations activities as assigned including but not limited to networking, attending meetings, providing program presentations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Ability to drive an automobile and small passenger van; climb stairs; possess good communication skills; meet the requirements of the classification and have mobility, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed. Capable of the following extended activities: standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Capable of the following intermittent activities: lifting 25 pounds or more and bending in the performance of infrequently performed office duties.
